Joy Air began to fly on June 1 2009 with a fleet of 3 MA-60 turboprops. The airline mainly focuse on the northwestern part of china. The airline tested its aircraft until the end of 2009 when it could offer passenger service with 10 MA-60 turboprops. The company is mainly owned by China Eastern Airlines. AVIC Group owns the rest. The airline expects to create service for Xi'an and serve northwestern China. China Eastern is planning to sell most of the stock to create money for the company.
