He first experienced China 30 years ago, but fashion master
Pierre Cardin has broken new ground in haute couture adventure with his
spring/summer 2008 collection show on the ancient Silk Road at a stop called
Dunhuang.
The theme of Pierre Cardin Spring/Summer 2008 Collection is “ Marco Polo” and
there are more than 200 garments in the desert exhibition. A Venetian mask,
Chinese dragon, dance and Kungfu were used to connect the show. As they walked,
the sun behind them gradually fell from view, leaving searing red clouds to
service as a backdrop for the stage.
The show took place on the vast Whilstling Sand Mountain desert in Dunhuang.
The fabled adventurer Marco Polo arrived in China via the Silk Road 700 years
ago and that is the only way Europeans can gain access in the Orient to explore
the mystery of Middle Kingdom with great collections of silk, green tea and
porcelain.
The Silk Road is still alive with its special brand of originality to imply how
prosperous China was in the history.
