You will start with cultural highlights in Lhasa, and drive past turquoise Yamdrok Lake and to the traditional town of Gyangtse. Then, an unforgettable visit to the Mount Everest (8848) base camp and views of the Himalayan ranges, rising to over 7000m in altitude, creates an extremely fascinating trip memory.

2Itinerary

Day 01Lhasa

Destinations: Arrive in Lhasa

Activities:

Arrival in Lhasa Gonggar airport, join in the group, our tour guide will welcome you with a ceremonial Khadak and take a memorable group photo. Then transfer to hotel in Lhasa.

If you arrive in Lhasa in the morning, you will visit Jakhang Temple in the afternoon. It was build in the 7th century, and is the Tibet’s most sacred temple. You could stroll along with streams of local pilgrims in lively Barkhor bazaar. Many people describe it as a fascinating, “Microcosm” of Tibet.

Day 02Lhasa, Gyangtse

Destinations: Lhasa – Yamdrok – Gyantse (280km, 5hrs)

Activities:

Begin your day with a visit to the magnificent Potala Palace, Lhasa’s cardinal land mark and winter home to the successive Dalai Lamas’. Originally build in the 7th century & later refurbished in the 17th century by the great No. 5th Dalai Lama. The Palace embodies the best of 17th century Tibetan arts and architecture. After the Palace, drive to turquoise Yamdrok Lake and Karola glacier (5086m), en route to the charming Gyantse town. 

Gyantse used to be the third largest and an important center of the wool trade in Tibet and a bustling caravan stop on the trade route from Lhasa to Nepal, India and Bhutan. Nowadays, travelers from all over the world come to see this charming small town for its laid-back atmosphere with 14th century Pelkor Chode Monastery, multi-chapel Kumbum pagoda and the fortress, from where Tibetans struggled hard in guarding the invading British expedition of 1904.

Day 03Gyangtse, Shegar

Destinations: Gyangtse – Shigatse - Shelkar (330km, 7hrs)

Activities:

In the early morning, you will start the journey to Shigatse, the 2nd largest town of Tibet. It plays an important role for the revered Buddhist Master Panchen Lama. Visit to Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, an impressive, finely crafted and serene looking statue high over the viewer, is an incomparable experience of the trip. Continue to Shelkar, spend the night there, and make your last preparation before arriving in Mt Everest Base Camp (EBC).

Meals: Lunch

Day 04Shegar, Everest Base camp

Destinations: Mount Everest Base Camp, EBC. (100km, 2hrs)

Activities:

Set off for EBC early in the morning, drive up to Pang-la pass (5050m), and the view of Himalayan range from here is superb. Arrive in Rongphu Monastery, the world’s highest monastery; the views of the north face of Mt. Everest from this vantage point are fine. Keep drive about 9km to the base camp at 5200m. On a clear day, you are rewarded with stupendous view of Mt. Everest. Late afternoondrive back to Shelkar.

Meals: Lunch

Day 05Everest Base camp, Lhasa

Destinations: Shelkar to Lhasa (520km, 10hrs)

Activities:

Take the long drive back to Lhasa, and enjoy many photogenic Tibetan communities, rivers and herds of yak.

Day 06Lhasa

Destinations: Lhasa Departure

Activities:

Transfer to airport or train station
