Hutong is the Chinese name for the ancient city alleys and narrow lanes originally built in the Yuan Dynasty. Dating back about one thousand years, these neighborhoods of narrow, twisting streets represent the “real life” of Beijing, where passageways connect to courtyards of traditional compact homes. Olld-fashioned pedicab tours through the Hutongs are very popular.
You can visit a traditional courtyard which is a typical residence of old Beijingers. You can learn making Chinese dumplings with host and hostess.
