        Yangshuo Food

Local food

Yangshuo food generally is categorized as four parts: local snacks, specialties, rural food and local western food. Wormwood polished glutinous rice, butter tea, pyramid-shaped dumplings and rice flour noodle play an important role in those local snacks; referring to specialties, nothing is more ever celebrated than zebra fish hot pot and beer fish as well as Yangshuo stuffed vegetables; when you have a trip in around the countryside, tasting rural food will be imperative experience in Moon Bay where people preferably enjoy the glorious moon anytime.Strongly recommended restaurants serving rural food are Mother Moon Restaurant and Yuelaifu Restaurant; western food combined with Chinese characteristics is provided mostly in the Western Street, and a bunch of excellent coffee shops serve western-style food too.

Beer fish is declared as the most famous local specialty by natives and foreigners alike, with the taste of spicy and velvety fish meat running out of smell. Fried the fish with the fresh tea oil grown in the mountain area of the northern Guilin, then stew the half-done fish with the first-class beer and soy sauce. This delicacy tastes its originally mellow flavors out of the local ingredients which means you have to arrange an actual journey to Yangshuo for the delicate beauty of Guilin cuisine. But the splendid experience is worth it.
Another Yangshuo specialty is Yangshuo conch which is extremely huge in comparison with other kinds of conch, as big as the size of a Ping-Pong ball. What the most amazing thing is that the conch meat does not taste like itself, because the chopped-down conch meat is first intermingled with minced pork, coriander and other seasonings, then re-stuff the conch shell with home-made sauce, which explains why Yangshuo conch bear a unique flavor.

Although Sichuan hot pot is famous for its spicy taste and pungent smell with copious dishes added into the pot, zebra fish hot pot in Yangshuo also stands out from the variety of local food. The soup base is boiled down by the head, tail and belly of the fish until milk-white and fragrant. The way to savor the hot pot is to broil the fish filet for about 3 seconds then directly eat it which is thin enough to see the pattern. Near the Western Street there are many zebra hot pot available for your sake which are guaranteed savory.
