Yichang Transportation

Transportation and communication in Yichang are developing rapidly. Yichang arterial highways extend to every corner. “The Golden Water Route" of the Yangtze runs through Yichang and it reaches Wanzhou City,Chongqing City in the west and Wuhan City, Shanghai City in the east.

The express from Yichang to Wuhan, Beijing,Xi'an and the railway from Yichang to Zhenzhou City,Wuxi City,Huaihua City,Guangzhou City were put into use long ago and an international railway container transport network was also established. Air transport conditions are advantageous.Yichang civil airliners can fly to China's 23 large and middle cities ,such as Beijing ,Shanghai, Guangzhou,Shenzhen.The international temporary air-liners was opened,too.

Roads and bridges

China National Highway 318 runs east-west through most of the prefecture-level city, south of the center city.

China National Highway 209 passes through the northwestern corner of the prefecture-level city.

Several provincial highways connect Yichang center city with most counties.

Several bridges span the Chang Jiang within the prefecture-level city of Yichang, including (upstream to downstream):

Connecting Letianxi and Sandouping in Yiling District, downstream of the Three Gorges Dam

Downtown (below the Gezhouba Dam), It connects the urban Xiling and Dianjun Districts.

Waterways

The Three Gorges Dam is located near to Yichang

Yichang is an important river port on the Yangtze river. Maoping Town (the county seat of Zigui County), has an active passenger wharf as well.

Railway

The eastern part of the prefecture-level city has railway service. The passenger station in Yichang center city has daily trains to Wuhan (both to Hankou and Wuchang stations), Beijing, and a few other major cities.
