Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is a historical and cultural city, filled with ancient relics and specialty foods which attract visitors from around the world. The rapid development of Hohhot City’s infrastructure has made it incredibly convenient for tourists to travel throughout the province. The mixtures of traditional cultures bring this northern city to life, the unique local styles and flavors’ make every snack or meal (such as Mongolian Barbeque) an enjoyable experience.

By air

The White Tower International Airport of Hohhot is the biggest aviation hub in Inner Mongolia, located approximately 15 kilometers southeast from the city center. Flight routes connect the city domestically to a majority of China’s major capital cities, as well as numerous outlying cities such as Wuhai, Dongsheng, Chifeng, Tongliao. Hohhot has a regular Airport Shuttle Bus service which travels to and from the city center Xinhua Square to the airport, the total traveling time is thirty minutes. All domestic flights require you to be at the airport one hour prior to departure, so please calculate the 30 minutes traveling time into your itinerary. Furthermore the airport shuttle buses run every half an hour, however if you are running short of time the city bus NO.12 also connects to the airport.
By train
Hohhot Railway Station is located in the Muslim District of Hohhot City, and has frequent trains connecting the city to numerous outlying regions and provinces throughout the county. An important railway line, the Beijing-Baotou Railway Route, connects the capital of China with the provinces in northern China. Trains travel through Hohhot City regularly, which connect onto other northern cities such as Lanzhou, Xi’an, Yinchuan, and, Shijiazhuang. Train lines also connect Hohhot to a number of southern cities including Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Guangzhou. In addition, international trains travel to Russia and Ulaanbaatar also exist and the train bound for Ulaanbaatar runs every Wednesday and Thursday. There are a number of buses such as NO.1, 2, 5, 7, 13, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 302, and 303 to get to the train station. Furthermore the Hohhot East Train Station opened on December 25, 2010 has greatly increased train numbers and passenger and tourism figures.
By bus

In the urban area of Hohhot City, there are nearly 90 bus lines leading to almost every corner of the city including most of the area's main attractions, which include sights such as the White Tower, Wutasi, Dazhao, and Zhaojun Tomb. Furthermore buses also have regular trips to the city's main shopping areas, which have an amazing array of shops and restaurants available. There is also a travel line for tourists: Bus NO.23, from the Hohhot Railway Station to Wusutu National Forest Park, which runs from 9:00 to 17:00, which has an interval time of approximately an hour.
