Lanzhou has a variety of handicrafts and local specialties from all parts of Gansu Province. You can go to Railway New Village business district, Nanguan-Xiguan business district and the Centre Square. The newly built Lanzhou Reid Moore Town Shopping Plaza consists of Wanguo Harbour, Pacific City, Atlantic City, Baltic City, Mediterranean City, Aegean City, Coral Sea City, and Caribbean City, Athena Street and Cupid Street—two pedestrian streets—and Reid Landscape Avenue. It is the first shopping plaza in northwest China which combines shopping, dining, and entertainment.
 
Specialities:
Lanzhou casserole has a history of at least 6,000 to 10,000 years and more than 20 varieties. Diameters of casseroles range from one feet five inches to a bowl size. For thousands of years, people in Lanzhou inherit and innovate casserole-making techniques. Lanzhou casseroles are durable and portable.
A carved gourd, as the name suggests, is a gourd carved with landscapes, portraits, animals, calligraphy or poems, and then painted with ink. Big ones are of the size of a fist while small ones that of an egg. Making a carved gourd includes several delicate techniques, such as carve, chisel, scrape and rub, in order to imitate Chinese landscape paintings.
 
Tao ink stone is one of three famous ink stones together with Duan ink stone in Guangdong and She ink stone in Anhui. Final products are made after the complicated process of 11 steps. The patterns are roughly divided into engraved ones and plain ones. The ink stone is green as jade and it had gained a high reputation since the Song Dynasty one thousand years ago.
Double-layed vases made in Lanzhou are a unique handicraft. Its history can be dated back to Qing Dynasty. The making of these vases need to go through more than 20 processes and there are more than 80 categories. The patterns range from flowers, animals, natural scenes and cultural essence of Mogao Grottoes and Maiji Grottoes.
