Maglev train

The Shanghai maglev (magnetic levitation) train line is the world's first commercial operated maglev line, which travels from the west Longyanglu station to the east Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The system was first developed by the German firm ‘Transrapid’,upon further collaborative work between German and Chinese specialists; the 29.863 mile line was successfully completed. The launch of the magnetic levitation train line on January 4th of 2003, witnessed the radically successful rail technology reaching speeds up to 430Km/h, which is just surpassed by that of airplanes. The Maglev train makes full use of the homopolar repullsion and heteropole attraction theory, which endows the iron train with the ability to float against the gravity on the tracks. There are two types of magnets that work simultaneously, as the initial powerful magnets lift the entire train approximately 10 millimeters above the specially designed track (also known as a guideway) a second set of magnets assisted by the lack of friction deliver momentum, acceleration and decelerating. This system makes the train stable and faster, which contributes to its reputation as the ‘plane on railways’. The success of the trains speed and innovative technology has become a symbol of potential growth for China’s newly emerging global power. Furthermore despite the initial test track in Northern Germany, China is the first country willing to build such an expensive ‘green’ train line. Hopefully other nations will be in the future willing to utilize such environmentally friendly technology. The first Maglev train car is approximately 27meters long and 3.7m wide, however the middle ones are a little smaller than the head car. The train can transport passengers from the downtown area to the airport and back in 14 minutes. Passengers experience an exhilarating rush upon entering the futuristic train, as the train speeds up it emits almost no sound, the train trip surpass any mundane cars journey. The trains windows are also specially designed, the materials used are decelerating glass, to enhance travel speeds and customer satisfaction. The passengers can relax and contemplate the beautiful and modern mode of transportation as they are rapidly transported to their destination.
