Jade Buddha Temple is located in Anyuan Road, north of Shanghai City. First constructed in 1918AD, it is a Song Dynasty Style temple. Inside the temple there stands three main Buddha Halls along the axis line in the middle. A hall consecrating a sitting Buddha (1.95 meters tall, 3 tons) and a smaller reclining Buddha representing Buddha’s death are situated next to the main hall. In the first day, fifth day or some Buddhist days in lunar calendar Jade Buddha temple will be filled with thousands of believers and fog. Jade Buddha Temple stores and consecrate amount of classis Buddhist works, paintings and sculptures and a much larger reclining Buddha made of marble, donated from Singapore, and visitors may mistake this larger sculpture for the original, smaller piece.
